Peru Trip Day 8: Lesson Planning and Food

It’s late, and I’m having a bit of writers block tonight, but will try to persevere.

Today we had the volunteer planning meeting, and Cade found out that because of his advanced Spanish compared to all the other volunteers, that he’s been appointed a group leader. His group – 4 and 5 year olds. He’s busy right now planning an English lesson plan for them, and he’s trying to remember what he used to do in Maestra Elicha’s class back in kindergarten. He’s gonna have these kids from 9am until 1pm at the Yanapay Cultural Center pictured above, so that’s a lot of time to fill. He’s gonna have a full 90 minutes of English time, which will be interesting to see.

At least he’s had some exposure the last two days participating in the English classes that our housemate Neil has been leading for the older kids. But entertaining a group of kids the same age as his little brother Sean is going to be challenging.

Some of the games he’s come up with so far include things like: Poker, Spin the Bottle, Craps, Liars Dice….no, no, no, just kidding. He’s got a list of 10+ activities so far, like: Red Light/Green Light, Simon Says, Duck Duck Goose, and others.

We’ve been eating pretty well here, although no snacking during the day (good for daddy’s waistline). We get three meals at the house, and Roxanna is a great cook. Today was Loma Saltado day, one of my favorites. We also had some great desserts at the restaurant tonight. I’ll include some pictures of some of the dishes we’ve had for your viewing pleasure.
