Peru Trip Day 7: Disappointment

Bummer, our volunteer meeting was cancelled today. I don’t know the whole story, but essentially the school is being forced to move because their landlord jacked up the rent some ridiculous amount. They haven’t been able to secure another facility, so a lot is in flux right now for the school. All the kids are on summer break, so it might be a good time for the move. Just not optimal for Cade and I for our visit.

Cade and I were able to help at the Yanapay Cultural Center with an English lesson for some 10-14 year olds. Was very impressed with these kids english already and the neatness of their writing.

Today I’m including some pictures of the house where we’re staying (Haydee’s House) along with a picture I really liked that I took at the local marketplace.

I’ve come to find out that home-stays are a popular alternative to hostals for world travelers, and our situation here is really ideal for our us. Plus, our housemates are fantastic. We all helped at the Cultural Center today and walked home together after, and had a great dinner waiting for us. Did I mention that we get 3 meals a day cooked for us? Yes, it is an awesome set up, and all for the crazy price of $16/day.
